Donetsk mine accident: 346 miners spent half a day underground without electricity

As reported by press service of Donetsk municipal council at 4 p.m. January 11 in consequence of shelling and shell hit electricity substation of Zasyadko mine 110 is damaged. 

Due to that Northern water supply distribution unit, 4 boiler stations, 63 transformer substations and Zasyadko mine are deenergized. 364 miners were caught underground.

Emergency repair teams were sent to accident site immediately.

It was decided to evacuate miners despite of shelling. 340 of them were saved by mine resque workers, the rest was evacuated through the next 1,5 hours. The first shift of 60 persons was evacuated completelyas well as 280 miners of the second shift.
