17.12.2104 Summary | Русская весна

1. Ukrainian authorities have started to build "one of the strongest armies in Europe" the primary goal of which is to bring Crimea back from Russia, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov said on Wednesday.

The country’s Defense Ministry and the Interior Ministry will get more than 10% share in total budget spending for 2015 estimated at $31 billion. A total of 5% of Ukrainian GDP will feed the military needs. “Our war will end only when the whole territory of Ukraine is liberated, including Crimea,” Turchynov said. Seems Ukrainian government consists of militarists and nationalists only. What a beautiful country.

2. Meanwhile "the strongest army in Europe" is receiving winter uniforms from United Kingdom. “Yesterday, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received a cargo of humanitarian aid from the United Kingdom. British colleagues handed down military winter uniforms and medical equipment,”  Defense Ministry spokesman said on Wednesday.

3. Poland is open to hold talks with Ukraine regarding possible sales of arms, Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski said on Wednesday. "If Ukraine is interested, then of course Poland is absolutely open to hold talks (on arms sales)," Komorowski said.

And then Ukrainian army will keep on killing civilians of Donbass. Great idea, Mr. Komorowski!

4. Steps towards further militarisation of south-eastern Europe, including missile defense deployment in Romania, run counter to the interests of regional and European security and stability, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Wednesday. He commented on statements by Chairman of the US House Intelligence Committee Mike Rogers on the “great shield” in Deveselu, Romania. “The role assigned to Romania to service the regular American project is hardly as honourable as it is presented,” Lukashevich said.
